CENTS Traits are Rooted in Reality

Unlike generative 10K collections with algorithmically assigned traits, CENTS traits are derived from real-world physicality. Each Cent is a high-resolution photograph of a genuine coin, and its traits are natural phenomena like wear, patina, and imperfections – etched by time, not code.

Because of this grounding in the messy, nuanced reality of physical coins rather than fixed algorithmic rules, there are no perfectly sharp borders – each classification requires interpretation, and some traits were assigned or denied after lengthy debate and controversial votes in the Traits Council. That said, we are convinced this is the only authentic way to honor the project’s real-world foundations.
